Sään suhteen tilanne vaikuttaa vakiintuneen niin, että aamupäivisin aurinko paistaa mukavasti, mutta iltapäivät ovat pilvisempiä. Tänään nautimme siis jälleen aamupäivän auringonotosta, uimisesta sekä tietysti vesileikeistä.
Iltapäivällä suuntasimme ihailemaan Cannesin tunnelmaa. Sää pysyi pilvisenä, mikä kyllä helpotti lasten kanssa liikkumista, kun ei tarvinnut vahtia koko ajan, että hatut pysyvät päässä ja kaikilla on tarpeeksi aurinkorasvaa. Itse vaan kaipaan aina sitä aurinkoa… Kaupunkiin saavuttaessa saikin jo jonottaa, eikä laitakaupunki suoraan sanottuna vaikuttanut mitenkään kovin hienolta. Mutta saapuessamme Palais des Festivalsin parkkihalliin ja noustessamme sieltä rantakadulle tunnelma oli täysin erilainen. Itse asiassa pilvinen sää oli aika kuvauksellinen.
Itse Palais des Festivals oli saarrettu erilaisilla autoilla ja työkoneilla, joten valmistelut johonkin tapahtumaan olivat varmaankin käynnissä. Valitettavasti emme siis päässeet ihan tämän Cannesin kuuluisia elokuvajuhlia isännöivän rakennuksen eteen pyörähtämään, eikä näkymä kaikkine härveleineen ollut kovin tyylikäs muutenkaan. Mutta kulku rantakatu La Croisettelle oli kaunis istutuksineen ja palmuineen. Täältä löytyi tietysti elokuvatähtien kädenjälkiä sekä semmoisia pahvisia elokuvahahmoja, joiden sisällä sai ottaa omasta naamastaan kuvan. Vanhempi poika innostui poseeraamaan niin Star Wars -varustuksessa kuin Charlie’s Angels -kuvassa.
Lapset ihastuivat rantakadun päädyssä olevasta karusellista ja leikkipaikasta sekä ennen kaikkea jättisaippuakuplia puhaltelivista miehistä. Pääosin vain nautiskelimme rauhallisesta iltapäivästä, söimme jätskiä ja kävelimme rantakatua pitkin. Yhtään julkkista ei kyllä bongattu visiitin aikana. Takaisinmatkalla jouduimme pieneen ruuhkaan, joten pitääkin muistaa vastaisuuden varalle, ettei ruuhka-aikana välttämättä kannata olla liikenteessä autolla.

Concerning the weather it looks like the mornings are full of sunshine but in the afternoons it gets more cloudy. Today we enjoyed again a sunny morning at the pool with lots of swimming and water games.
In the afternoon we headed to see what Cannes looked like. The weather was still cloudy, which was actually kind of a relief not having to worry all the time about the children keeping their hats on and everybody having enough sun cream. It’s just that I always miss the sun… When arriving in Cannes there was some queue and honestly said the outer city did not seem very attractive. But when arriving at the Palais des Festivals parking garage and getting out at the end of the promenade the ambience was completely different. Actually the cloudy weather was quiet picturesque.
The Palais des Festivals itself was surrounded by various cars and machines, so clearly there were some preparations for an event ongoing. That’s why we, unfortunately, were not able to get in front of this building hosting the famous Cannes film festival, and the view with all the equipment was certainly not very stylish. But the passage to the promenade La Croisette was pretty with all the palm trees and flowers. There were of course some hand prints of movie stars and movie characters made out of cardboard so you could take a picture with your face in them. My older son got really excited about posing there as characters from Star Wars as well as Charlie’s Angels.
The boys loved the carousel and play ground at the end of the promenade but probably the best thing was some guys blowing huge soap bubbles there. Mainly we just enjoyed the chilled out afternoon, ate ice cream and walked along the promenade. We did not spot any celebrities during our visit. On our journey back we got into a traffic jam, so we need to take note, that driving during rush hour isn’t probably the best idea.
